I've had a bit of a hiatus away from my usual Illustration work thanks to lill' ol ArtCarp here! This year's summer reading program at the Walla Walla Public Library officially launched just last month, along with all the promotional material I helped flesh out. Take a look-see! The Walla Walla Public Library threw their Kick-Off party for this year's summer reading program; Summer of Fun, on Saturday, June 23rd. I was fortunate enough to be able to work on the program logo design! The logo was crafted to embody the spirit of the library and the joy of summer reading. We whipped up a sunny beach/book design that has been printed for flyers, banners, book bags, t-shirts, and the like. The children's side of the library is ArtCarp's home; a wheeling fish designed by sculpture artist, Wayne Chabre. ArtCarp use to spend his days at a children's hospital, carting arts and crafts to patients. He retired at the Walla Walla Public Library and has become a sort of mascot for the children's side. What better way to kick-off a Summer of Fun than with a fun-filled activity sheet featuring this delightful guy? The front on the activity sheet (above) features ArtCarp looking for obscure items related to this year's summer reading program. The I-spy like page doubles as a coloring sheet. (Win!) This was a true joy to ink up for the kiddos. The back sheet (above) relates the obscure items to each individual program event, along with their times and dates. Thanks for reading!
